Burak Gümüş, born in Germany in 1974, studied Sociology (Migration, Marginal Groups, Xenophobia) and Political Science (State Theories, International Cooperation, Foreign Policy) at the University of Constance (Uni Konstanz). He made there his PhD on the "Revival of Alevism in Turkey and in Germany". His fields of research interest are Alevism; Collective Memory; Rituals and Identity; Transnational Migration; German-Turkish Relations; German-Turks, New Media and Turkish Politics. He has several publications mainly dealing with Turkish Alevis. He is Assistant Professor, PhD in the Division for Political and Social Sciences at the Department for Public Administration in the Faculty for Economics and Administrative Sciences at the Trakya University in Edirne/Turkey.
