» Biography

Selma Arzu Vardar received her medical degree from the Trakya University of Medical Faculty, Edirne, Turkey and completed her doctoral thesis in the physiology department of the same university in 2002. She interested in exercise physiology and cardiac physiology. Her research interests include the investigation of exercise induced alterations in cardiac contractility and natriuretic peptide responses and also molecular mechanisms underlying cardiac muscle remodeling during fructose rich diet. Her other researches were included the relation between exercise and sleep, body composition in female athletes and female athlete triad. Her thesis title is “The acute effect of exogenous melatonin on rat cerebral blood flow".

Dr. Vardar worked as an observer in Nuclear Cardiology Laboratory of Department of Cardiology in Yale University Medical Faculty in 2001, Sport Physiology Laboratories of Istanbul University Medical Faculty in 2003, Marmara University Medical Faculty in 2006 and 2010.  She interested in active learning in medical education. In 2013, she worked as an observer in Maastricht University Medical Faculty, Department of Physiology.
