He was born in 1962 in Turpçular village of Edirne's İpsala district. He completed his primary school in his village (1973), secondary school in İpsala (1976), high school in Keşan (1979), and his higher education in Uludağ University Balıkesir Necatibey Faculty of Education, Department of Turkish Language and Literature Education (1984). In 1985, as a result of the "proficiency test", he was appointed as Kırşehir High School Turkish Language and Literature Teacher and started his professional life. After working as a teacher and administrator in the same high school for three years, he passed the exam opened by Gazi University and was appointed to Kırşehir Education Faculty as a lecturer (1988). In the same academic year, he started his master's degree in the field of "Turkish language" at the Institute of Social Sciences of Erciyes University, and in 1990, he completed his master's degree with his thesis on Sentence Structure and Analysis of Old Turkish (Köktürk) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Metin Karaörs. He became a doctor of Turkish language with his thesis titled Kırşehir and its Region Dialects (Review-Texts-Dictionary) prepared under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Tuncer Gülensoy in 1994 and published by the Turkish Language Institution in 2000.
In the 1994-1995 academic year, he by title Assist. Assoc. was appointed as the head of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature Education, which was opened within the Kırşehir Education Faculty.
After his military service, he continued his duty at Kırşehir Education Faculty as a lecturer and head of the department. He worked as a faculty member and head of the department until June 2009, in the department that was transformed into the "Turkish Education Department" on July 28, 1998.
He worked as the Deputy Director of Gazi University Turkish Culture and Hacı Bektaş Veli Research Center (responsible for the Hacıbektaş Branch) between August 10, 2002 and August 10, 2005, and the Director of Gazi University Hacı Bektaş Veli Vocational School (founder) between October 6, 2003 and October 13, 2006.
Günşen, who became an Associate Professor on November 22, 2005, presented the Mawlid of Ipsalalı Ebu'l-Hayr, who lived in İpsala in the 15th century, as an associate professor presentation thesis, as a text publication and language analysis in nine different copies. He has brought the aforementioned personality and his work to the history of Turkish language and literature.
As of June 15, 2009, he started working at Trakya University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Turkish Language and Literature. He is the Head of the New Turkish Language Department in the aforementioned department.
In addition to his other academic studies, Günşen presented his presentation titled Âşık Pasha from Kırşehir (His Life, Literary Personality and Works), one of the first turkish linguist, and received the title of Professor of New Turkish Language at Trakya University in December 2010.
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Günşen was appointed as the founding director of the Balkan Research Institute of Trakya University, which was established on February 26, 2010, on March 2, 2010. He is still carrying out this duty.
Drawing attention with his works on Balkan Turkish dialects in recent years, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Günşen has eight published books, book chapters, articles published in national and international refereed journals, and papers presented in national and international symposiums.
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Günşen is married and has three children, one boy and two girls.
